Ninth Loch Ness Report Pushes 2026 Past Last Year’s Total
Original reporting by T.K. Randall for Unexplained Mysteries
The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register has logged its ninth report of 2026, already surpassing the total recorded in 2025.
Unexplained Mysteries describes a July 21 observation near Urquhart Castle. The witness reported a dark green head followed by two humps and a line of disturbed water, then said the shape submerged after what appeared to be a tail movement.
The count measures submitted sightings, not confirmed animals. Boat wakes, swimming wildlife, wave patterns, distance, and expectation can all shape what observers perceive on the loch. Still, the concentrated run of reports makes 2026 a useful year for comparing testimony, weather, traffic, and available camera evidence.
